It has been a couple of months since I have been following an exercise routine that I created at the beginning of lockdown. Every alternate day I switch up the videos that I watch for a full body workout. Some days I focus on an ab workout and other days I work on legs. Through this kind of an organisation of the routine, I am able to give parts of my body a rest to recover for the next round of exercising. At this point, I have been able to gain some more muscle strength on my arm to lift more than 5 lbs of weight. I have been able to push myself to exercise for weeks without missing many days in a week.

A consistency in my exercise routine has helped me maintain consistency in the rest of my schedule throughout the school day. I can now manage my time better in general and feel more energised throughout the day. I have learnt the importance of exercise on mental health and focus as well. Being in a lockdown situation is not easy on mental wellbeing as it keeps you confined in the same environment. I have been able to use exercising as a way to escape the confines of my room and house and be in a fresh environment.

The impact of exercising on my levels of focus has been immense. It can be difficult to sit in front of a screen for hours on end trying to focus. However, knowing that I have the ability to give my body a break from sitting in one spot all day motivates me to stay present in the moment when I do need to sit and focus. Before I started a routine, I would avoid exercising on days that I felt particularly low on energy, thinking that it would drain me even more. However, as I have become accustomed to a routine, I have realised that exercising is what gives me the energy that I need on a low day.
