  • How does intertextuality contribute to meaning within texts? 

Intertextuality within texts often brings the intended context of the whole text. The author will always have an intention behind the intertextuality that is used but how it may be perceived and understood will differ. In both cases, intertextuality contribute to creating or further emphasise/support the meaning within the text.

  • What is gained and lost through the use of intertextuality?

There are many gains through the use of intertextuality as the intended intertextuality in a text will create a meaning for the audience. Those who understand the reference or allusion that has been called upon to further support the meaning by adding context to the text. However, it is still important to notice the meaning that may be lost as intertextuality is used. Once an audience perceives one intertextuality it is hard to unsee the reference thus perhaps losing another meaning which may have been portrayed.
