How does language include/exclude, represent/misrepresent?

I think language can do all, it can exclude but also include, it represents and misrepresents. It can go both ways depending on what perspective you look at it from. It gets excluded by cutting out languages and dialects around the world but it can also include by getting people to speak a common language. It misrepresents by creating language stereotypes, for example if someone has a british accent, they are instantly assumed to be more posh and formal but it can also represent by showing you are from that specific country. The language you speak and how you say it will be different from others but it also gives a sense of individuality and identity.

  1. I agree when it comes to the statement that accents can create interpretations of the person and that it can include or exclude a person. I think that your post is very straight to the point but maybe add in some opinions or experiences to make it more personal to you as I think it would be more interesting : )
