Modern Love – Take Me as I Am, Whoever I Am

This piece was about a first date that the woman is reminiscing about 5 years ago, she has a disorder where she is extremely bipolar and sometimes is the most lifeful person in the world but another day she is in bed all day to escape her problems. She goes on a date with a guy and ends up ruining it as she is in her bad mood that day. She lives her life banking on working and being lively during her happy hours and doesn’t do anything during the rest. She lives her life on excuses, only showing up when she was sure to impress not letting anyone know who she really is. She has a limited amount of time period she is allowed to be happy in and when that clock runs out she becomes her other-self.

The whole set gradually changed from light to dark as her other half descends, going from title sequence songs to long periods of crying and sleep. You can just tell as soon as the music and the volume dissipates that her other personality came over. She learns from her thing with Jeff that sometimes to prevent hurting the other person all of this is to disclose it at first. And it seems that she is really relieved opening up to someone about it. She was seeing everyone as not being able to take her and not being able to keep up with her huge issue. When she started taking the meds the music started rising it was not as alive as she was but it was not deathly silence like it was when she was in one of her moods.

I think that both stories about the past love making a difference in your life now, they both reflect on something that happened a while ago and made a difference in their current life. Also for a couple of the stories, they were quite small encounters and somehow changed their life for the better. Even though in the first episode one of the person’s marriage ended and it was for the better, and her past love revealed something about what she wanted in life.
