HS Girls Volleyball U19B End of season CAS Relfection

The HS Girls Volleyball U19B was a very enriching experience as a player of the sport. I only recently began my journey with volleyball and I can confidently say that such clubs and teams have only ever enhanced my love for the sport. This year after the tryouts I was allotted to the B team although I do wish that I had been part of the A team the standard to which I have been challenged and improved has not changed in the least. My coach Delphine was always conscious of our personal goals when playing the sport and actively made efforts to ensure that we were getting the training we needed to not only achieve these goals but also helped us target problem areas mentally as a team, she ensured that we were well acquainted with our team mates and facilitated a team mindset that allowed us to be more comfortable and enthusiastic with each other. This eventually resulted in us transforming in to a team that not only worked together but grew together and it was truly sad when the season ended.

When it came to my personal growth as a player I was able to become more confident among my peers and was less afraid of asking for help. This season I wanted to target my ability to block and hit and I have definitely improved by leaps and bounds through dedicating myself to each and every drill and game that we played.

Playing during COVID was most definitely a struggle we had to play with our masks on which was definitely a double edged sword. On one hand it allowed us to exert more energy and play at high intensity however it also meant that some of us could not play for longer intervals and we were limited to smaller groups of 5 at times making it difficult to play a traditional game with teams of 6. However with good planning on the coaches end each session was still very fruitful.

I plan on attending the tryouts next year as well and I can only hope that it is just as fun and enriching as it was this year. Next year I hope to get on the A team and hopefully even become a team captain. Till then I plan on being part of the Dragons club and Holiday program to continue improving and targeting my weaknesses.

🙂 🏐
