Our group members share interests in photography and videography, so we will aim to create either a short film or photo essay to chronicle our project week. Currently we are leaning more towards photo essay and will use the NYTimes Lens blog as our mentor text. We will ‘steal’ from the structure used (e.g. headers, text, photos) and the composition of the photos.

Our final post will be collaborative. Photos will be taken by Jung Yon and Sisy before and throughout the trip. The rest of our group members will work on the text in weeks following the trip.

This will help us to develop creativity and coordination with others as we will need to collaborate and delegate responsibility in order to complete the photo essay successfully.

During project week we will need to document:

• The places we go to: service areas, Hehuanshan mountain
• The people we meet: service leaders (e.g. Ms Jiang, regional leader of Huashan Social Welfare Foundation), the elderly we interview during our service work, other volunteers at Huashan, adventure guide
• The activities we do: service, hiking

In order to balance what the service provider and future grade 11s want to see, our writers will attempt to put a different take on each photo.

We will use Creative Commons licensed images in order to create our photo essay.
