I make bad decisions on a daily basis, however, one of the most common bad decisions I have made is similar to the one about the lottery. When a child goes to a carnival or even a mall, aren’t they instantly attracted to one of the stuffed toy grabbers? Even as a child I couldn’t resist the lure of the machine, and that is because I saw the pictures on it. The girl holding a huge stuffed bear, looking like the happiest child in the world; of course, being a head-strong child, I just had to have the toy, and my family and I would spend ages in front of those machines that don’t really work anyway. I suffered from a logical fallacy as a child. I thought, that since the girl had a toy in her hand, and I was a girl, therefore I would get the toy just like the girl. My premises were correct, but the conclusion I reached was wrong. I, obviously, didn’t factor in the odds of winning, the design of the machine, the number of losers to that one girl winning.
