The Jazz band’s practice is becoming very inconsistent due to the increase in the number of covid-19 cases. We are currently practicing some of the pieces and preparing for a performance in near December break. However, as we are almost confirmed that just like last year the performance will be conducted through online/recording I’m disappointed that we can’t come up to the stage once again. The last time we were up on the stage was during the grade 9 graduation performance and grade 10 December winter concert. It’s been almost 2 years since we haven’t gotten to perform in front of an audience. I really miss playing for the live audience and hope the practice may continue.
LO 2 CHALLENGE – Undertaken new challenges & developing new skills
What was it about this activity that I found challenging/difficult?
The difficult part is that our rehearsal is hard to conduct because the government has restricted the mass gathering. Thus, even our group practice is being affected by the restriction.
Were there challenges that I could not overcome? Why/why not?
This is a challenge that I can overcome because this is due to government regulation and policy. Maybe I can do an online meeting at least with the trumpet people but it is very difficult.
How will I approach a challenge like this in the future?
Find optimal solution using technology probably.
LO 6 GLOBAL VALUE – Engaging with issues of global importance
What did I learn about this issue?
I’m starting to feel the covid-19 issue is very serious in Singapore. Because every day the restriction and regulation is becoming strict and confirmed cases are rising in local as well.
Why is this a significant issue?
This is a significant issue because it is directly related to our health and safety issues. Furthermore, this is an issue related to everyone in this world.
How have my actions had a positive/negative impact on this issue?
Following and respecting the government regulation is giving a positive impact on the Singapore quarantine program. Furthermore, it can make my family healthy and safe.
