“Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train” – First Impressions

During class, we read the first four scenes of the play ‘Jesus Hopped on the A Train’, and I have noticed some interesting things. Firstly, the first scene is filled with vulgarities, which creates the setting of the correctional centre the play is set at in New York City. This also impacts the audience strongly, because it puts an impression on the characters as rather aggressive. However, there are also elements of humour seen in the play, which makes the tone more casual and less intense. This also entices me to continue reading, because it makes it more enjoyable.
