Kahaani Practice – 14/11/19

Today was our first kahaani dance practice session. In this session, I got parred up with my dance partner, and the leaders started to teach us the steps. This was a bit of a challenge for me because I am terrible at dancing, so I had to get help from some of my friends and the leaders as well. It was also good for me to step outside my comfort zone, and try something new which I have never done before.

MUN Day 3 – 3/11/19

This was the last day off our MUN conference. Today was really fun because we got into the actual debate, debating the different delegates resolutions and amendments. This helped me work on my debating and speaking skills as I asked a lot of POI’s (Point of Inquiries), and also got an amendment approved which felt really good. Overall, I think that the MUN conference was a really good experience as I got to work on a lot of different skills that I can use in the future, and also met a lot of new people.
Learning Outcomes – 4 and 6

MUN Day 2 – 2/11/19

This was the second day of the MUN conference. We first started with the role call, and then got into groups and started forming our resolutions. I was apart of a group that tried to get supranational organisations like the IMF and WTO to facilitate. Forming our resolution took us all the way until lunch. After lunch, I was called to be a witness for the ICC, in the case of a convicted terrorist named Mr Al-Hassan. This was an awesome experience because it felt like I was in a proper court room, and hearing the defence and the prosecutors both plead their case was really cool to watch. I also had to quickly think on my feet, as the prosecutors would ask me questions, and I needed to make sure nothing I said helped their case.

MUN Day 1 – 1/11/19

Today was the first day of the three-day MUNOFS conference. I arrived at the OFS campus in the afternoon, and all of us were sat down for a general assembly speech from the secretary-general. After that, we headed into a young leaders workshop. In the workshop, I learnt about online security and learnt how to be safe online. I also got to come up with solutions with different delegates for internet users that were not safe online, and methods they could employ to become safer.
Learning Outcomes – 2 and 5

MUN – 25/09/19

During today’s MUN session, we had started the real part of MUN. This included creating speeches on the spot, with a time constraint, working on speaking in the third person, and speaking in front of a crowd. I had chosen to do MUN because I wanted to experience this activity, and improve my public speaking skills. So today’s session allowed me to work on that.

MUN – 18/09/19

Today was our second MUN meeting. In this session, we went through all the basic terms and concepts that need to be used during a conference, and how a conference works. Our leaders explained the different roles of students during a conference, and how we had to try to be as formal as possible since we were trying to simulate an actual UN conference. I think my biggest take away from today’s session was how I need to be as formal as possible and speak in the third person.
