L03: “Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience. Students can articulate the stages from conceiving an idea to executing a plan for a CAS experience or series of CAS experiences. This may be accomplished in collaboration with other participants. Students may show their knowledge and awareness by building on a previous experience, or by launching a new idea or process.”

What activities did I plan?

  • What was the outcome of my planning? How do I know?
  • How did my plans change as the activity progressed? Why?
  • What difficulties did I face in executing my plan? How did I overcome these challenges?  How did I respond to changes in plans?
  • Would I respond the same way in future? Why/why not?

My friend (Shreya) and I have started the I-India GC in High school this year after planning for it from the end of last year. I-India aims to support street children in Jaipur, tackling global issues such as poverty, gender equality, child labor and other deep-rooted issues. Our GC aims to promote awareness about the problems that these children face and how the NGO promotes wellbeing and saves them through using their helplines, shelter homes, etc. We have put together a group of students who are passionate about supporting this cause, and we will soon establish a fundraising event in seasons 3 and 4. Initiating this GC took a lot of research and investigation into the cause and the NGO itself. Therefore, Shreya and I created a whole GC folder in which we could organise our resources. I learned that being meticulous and equipping yourself with lots of knowledge about a certain cause will always come in handy. I learned this during our GC proposal presentation to the whole of the service office in which both Shreya and I were able to handle the questions with ease due to our thorough research.

my goals for the execution of our ideas is to solidify the event idea before the end of october break so that we can schedule it in with the service department!
