I went to contact an upperclassmen of mine (he’s in grade 12) for a possible opportunity to design a logo. He was in charge of this programme called Project0. An optional year long project for small groups of high schoolers to answer a research question.

The programme didn’t have a logo and I had had some fun with designing the CDM conference logo.
So… After sending over some ideas to my upperclassmen, I took an attempt at designing one for Project0.

My overall process for these kinds of stuff is:

  • Send a bunch of rough ideas of the logo (brainstorming)
  • They pick out whichever ideas they do and don’t like, as well as additional information of what they would like to have in the logo
(eg: a small pencil, make the lines a different colour etc)
  • I make necessary changes, still in rough stage, and send it over
  • I get an OK
  • Finalise draft, clean lines and colours
  • Final check

There’s a lot of feedback from the user which makes it a slow process, but ensures quality.

Here’s the rough drafts/brain storming

I labelled each idea so that when having a conversation with my senior, I’d know which design they were talking about.

After going back and forth with my senior, these two (just slightly different from one another) ended up being the final designs.
