GC Milk Tea: 23/5/19
Hello portfolio, I just tasted too many teaspoons of milk tea and I do not think I’ll want to drink milk tea for the next week. Today Anumita and I made 4 liters of milk tea, for tomorrows taste testing. At first it was too bland – the tea looked dark so we stopped adding tea leaves, even though we knew from the previous trial that we needed twice as many tea leaves as the Lipton packaging suggests we use. After she left, I poured the filtered tea back into the pot, added 10 teaspoons and reboiled. It tastes better now. Thankfully. A dash of full cream milk makes it perfect. But my tongue is still dead from the too-bland tea.
One thing that did not go too well was that many GC members forgot to show up, and we waited in the boarding house lobby for a while, because we need boarders to sign us in to access the kitchen. Somehow, I don’t feel the need to complain anymore; at a point, fewer people could actually increase productivity. We ended up making the milk tea at my house.
Another thing that didn’t go too well was that our original milk went bad, (it was stored in a tin can, we did not bother to re-container it – put it in another container – so the can kind of flaked off into the milk…) and I had to go to a nearby supermarket to buy a new can. 10 minutes, to and from Fairprice, includes time to buy the milk. At least I got cardio exercise. At first I wanted to finish making the tea by 4:30, so I can store it in the language department, but that ended up not being possible. Ugh, I thought the challenge of making tea was over and I’m experienced!
