First Main Portfolio Reflection: Healthy Living

Since the last two months i have been working on improving my speed and stamina in swimming. In this process i have learnt that it is not easy to drastically improve in something in a short period of time. Improvement happens quite slowly and gradually. Nevertheless, i have made a lot of progress since i first started in the month of October. This progress comes from the variety of exercises that i do each month.

In the beginning, i used to do around 8 laps of swimming and had a lot of rest time between two laps. Now, i am able to complete 10 laps in a session, in the same amount of time. I would say that i was able to achieve the goals that i set for myself every lesson. My goal for the next sessions is: Completing 12.5 laps of swimming. This goal would improve my strength and stamina further.

November 2018: Session 2

My goal for this session was to improve my stamina. I reduced the time set aside for rest after every lap. I was able to complete 8 laps of freestyle and 2 laps of back stroke. This exercise also helped me improve my speed.

I was able to achieve the goal, i set for myself, last session. Next session, I would aim to do another lap of back stroke in the same amount of time.

 

November 2018 : Session 1

In this session, my goal was to do 8 laps of freestyle and a lap of backstroke. I also tried to reduce the time set aside for rest after each lap. I could do 8 laps of freestyle and a lap of backstroke. This modification in the routine helped me, improve my speed.

For the next session, i would try to do 9 laps of freestyle instead of  8 . Also, i would try to do more laps of backstroke. I would be aiming at 2 laps in the end instead of 1 .

October 2018 : Session 2

I walked for 6.5 kilometres today. For this session, my goal was to remain at a consistent speed throughout the session. In the end, i noticed that i was able to achieve my goal. I used walking as an exercise to help increase my stamina in swimming as well.

 

For the next session, i aim to walk 7 kilometres in the same time. Also, i would aim to remain at a consistent speed for the next session as well.
