Challenges and new experiences I have faced in Grade 11

  • Finding new study methods
  • New subject choices meant learning and adapting to new courses
  • Meeting lots of new people in class and more
  • Balancing my social to work life
  • Sometimes finding motivation to keep working after school or during the weekend
  • Making some difficult choices
  • Being able to think and be critical about the future and university
  • Making choices that are important for the future and for myself
  • Creating new habits
  • Changing and developing as an individual and knowing what’s best for me
  • Trying to be harder on myself and accept the truth more

New subject choices meant learning and adapting to new courses

To help me tackle this challenge successfully I had to keep an open mind and keep pushing through. Something about me is that I tend to not want to change my methods and tactics even if I realise they are not working for me, I have had to be honest with myself and force myself out of my comfort zone in order to create change. Even though it can sometimes be a setback, in the end it helps me achieve a long term goal that is important and I am proud of my growth. Some courses have been more challenging than others but I enjoy and am fully committed to all of them equally, I feel as though enjoying these classes helps me achieve greater things. I also feel comfortable reaching out for help from my teachers on any advice and tips that they may have in order to also help my learning and growth as a student, I have found this to be extremely beneficial to me and I have seen great improvements in my work due to this.

Sometimes finding motivation to keep working after school or during the weekend

I am still trying to find a way to work on this challenge as it is still something that is prominent. Because this challenge can be due to a number of reasons, I sometimes struggle to be able to target it specifically, as it could be due to a lack of sleep, excess work, excess exercise, I have other big plans or projects or I tend to be easily distracted. I have tried a variety of methods to work on this, and whilst some help it is never a guaranteed success. I think it is something I do need to work on as it will be extremely useful in university and for life, if I can find a successful tactic that will help me manage my motivation I think it will make me happier, less stressed and overall feel more confident about my abilities.

Relevant aspects of PSE that have helped me

I feel as though the university and college life aspect of PSE has been one of the most helpful units. I think it is important to prepare and think about the next step in life and get ready for it, learning skills on safety and inclusion have also made me feel safer and more confident with this new experience in my life. The UAC have also been very helpful in helping me figure out what kind of university experience I am looking for and finding suitable courses for me. I must say it is one of the best parts of the PSE programme and one that is relevant and important to all, it also teaches important life skills and more.
