Today, was the first official school held training session for the pre-season tennis team. At the start of the training session, we just completed our dynamic and static stretches to loosen our body, then moved on to mini tennis. Mini tennis was the slang for warm-up in tennis as it was where we found our groove and rhythm.
After mini tennis, we had split up into three different groups. I had decided that I wanted to take part in some drills. The drills were focused on turning the defensive play into offensive play. During this exercise, we had to hit the ball back, deep into the opponent’s court. For my backhand, in particular, I learnt that I needed to turn my body more, and use my legs, and not just my arm, as I would be able to gain more topspin on the ball enabling it to travel higher. After the drills, I had headed on to play some games against my teammates.
