Participating and playing on the tennis team has been a very important and beneficial experience for me, as it’s taught me many important lessons on communication, respect, and teamwork. It’s definitely something I have a LOT of work left to do, especially as someone who hates losing and doesn’t take losing very well. However, participating and playing in a team environment has taught me the important lesson that sometimes, a loss is not only inevitable, and that more importantly, even in a loss, it’s not always about you. Being in a team in such an independent, competitive sport has sometimes been a stressful feeling, as you understand that your performance impacts not just you, but others as well, though this realization has definitely been one that has I think resulted in self-betterment for myself, and will help aid decisions I make in the future as well for sure.
