I sketched this political cartoon alluding to The Handmaid’s Tale. The main allusion was to the “wings” that the handmaids wear in the story, and I used this to illustrate that politicians (as the one illustrated) are so blinded by their sense of supposed moral purity (symbolized by the “wings”) in Alabama that they are completely blinded to the countless issues on female rights as a result of their policies, such as the abortion ban. I also wish to note that I used the word “shit” (excuse the language) as a representation of how Alabama, in general, is one of the more underdeveloped states in the US with regards to educational quality, and this ‘dirty’ word represents this lack of proper education. I’m not swearing for the sake of swearing!
