To celebrate my dad’s birthday, my sister and I decided to bake a cake and surprise him. Though cakes aren’t the healthiest of foods, over the summer, I was able to understand that life is about a healthy balance and enjoying guilty pleasures once in a while. However, when we did make the cake, we definitely cut down on sugar, butter and flour, and additionally chose a recipe that was very low in these unhealthy products. The whole cake only consisted of 60g of both flour and sugar and 20g of butter.

I also decided to go back to the gym this week to ensure that I was getting back to my usual routine of fitness. As I was just getting back from a month-long holiday, I decided to take it easy and go on a long walk on the treadmill at a fast speed. Though it wasn’t the same as my workouts prior to going to Japan, I think it was nice to get back to my fitness routine and continue to stay healthy over the summer. I managed to burn 250 calories, walk 3.75km in 40 minutes.

Week 2: This week I decided to do 2 workouts that were very similar to the one I did last week. These workouts helped me get back into the routine of going to the gym and exercising my body. I did realise though, that they weren’t that challenging and that was probably the reason why I went to the gym so much so I should probably try and challenge myself back to jogging and running again soon. It was, however, nice to take advantage of the summer and all my spare time to go to the gym.
Time for Both Workouts: 70 minutes
I also decided to bake another cake for my mom’s birthday though this time I tried to make a healthier cake and made a Japanese style tea chiffon. This had very little sugar, only 30g in the whole recipe and I decided to not use any whipped cream to dress the cake. I think these little decisions I made with the cake significantly contributed to the idea that I can make a cake and enjoy it from time to time so long as it’s a healthier version. I wasn’t able to take a picture but this is what it looked like on the cookbook I was following.

Week 3:
Today I went biking with one of my friends and we went for around 2 hours on rented bikes around a wonderful park. It was a great experience to exercise out in nature, as I usually don’t exercise in nature or outside at all. It was also good to bike because I had been quite rusty on these skills since I hadn’t done it in so long. However, it was good for me to get back to it as it was always one of my favourite ways to exercise.

Week 4:
I was going to audition for Culturama Japan this week and so I did a lot of dance rehearsal at home and I did some rehearsal at the audition to make up for it. This is a new form of exercise that I want to be trying and I think I will really enjoy it.
