Imagination and reality- AJaTS

My writing is a bit cringe but I did some thinking…

What exactly is this book saying about the tension between reality and the imagination?

In Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter, there is a recurring theme about imagination and reality. — more stuff in the intro

Mario, too busy with his very real life, has almost no time or energy for imagination (which is literature), during his hectic days before and after the marriage. On the other hand, Pedro is busy indulging himself in imagination, writing serials and acting them out (going great lengths to do so), to put himself in reality, where he isn’t a protagonist with dramatic turns in his life. His wife is not perfect, not loyal,  which is often described in his serials (although he says she is). Perhaps the book is trying to say that it is hard to balance imagination and reality at the same time and that one must choose in order to have a satisfying experience of one.

[ I probably need some sort of evidence supporting this, but I haven’t been able to pinpoint which one ]

So… how do I expand more here?
