Quotes:

  1. The arrival of the smartphones has radically changed every aspect of teens lives from social interaction to mental health
  2. Netflix biggest competitors are face book and sleep
  3. Kids are losing the ability to converse because of technology

I used to think that smartphones were one of the biggest distractions there were for us because it stopped us from working and made us look at social media or notifications. But now I think that the problem isn’t the phone but the person using the phone. The person is allowing themselves to get distracted and not focus on what they are meant to because the phone is more interesting.

I agree with the fact that the problem of today is the phone because 1000’s of CEO’s are using their phones to help them optimize their day and not getting distracted by it. Though what I disagree with is the fact is the kids fault, because when you are seven or eight you dont have the idea of self control unless you are extremely mature. But as you turn into a teenager your parents cannot be deciding how you use your phone so, at that point kids would need to start exercising self control. Technology is a tool when used correctly can make things exponentially easier and increase the quality of our work.

I really liked the way you structured your conversation and the way your group gave everyone an adequate amount to talk. I do think that you can look at this problem through different perspectives especially more through the perspectives of those whom are actually suffering from a screen addiction. I would also like to draw the conclusion that you guys think that smart phones are having a negative effect on us as a population and this cycle will only continue.

Your quote : “Netflix biggest competitors are face book and sleep” is a really interesting quote and the more you think about it how most of these big companies like snapchat etc, their biggest competitors to the having more users and more active users is sleep. That fact that the biggest competitor is something that us as humans need to survive shows how the addiction has really over come almost anything that is a distraction from these companies shows the magnitude and power these companies have on peoples lives. Overall a great conversation.

What these people talked about was how smartphones are changing the lives of teens in both positive and negative ways. A quote that they touched a lot was the one about the technologists and drug dealers and how they call there clients users. The was a big topic because it touches on addictions and it compares drugs to phones. It then talked about how Netflix’s competitors were Facebook and sleep, because Facebook is one of the biggest websites and whenever anyone watches Netflix there is always the option to watch the next episode and sometimes you just can’t resist.
