Maths and Me – Maths Homework

Hello there, my name is Mathew and in my years as a UWCSEA student, I learned international mathematics (0607) from the IGCSE syllabus. Personally, for me, mathematics can be exciting but also fairly difficult. There are certain topics like quadratics which interest me and other like functions that do not. I chose SL analysis in IB because I like the equation solving side of this subject which involves less practical and investigation.  While working on math questions, I prefer to figure out and work things out for myself and try for some time. If I am not able to do it, then it would be helpful if someone explains that particular problem to me for clarification. If I find something difficult in maths, whether its a topic or just a question I will just usually ask my peers or the teacher for help cause it is the most straight forward way. If I am at home and if I have a doubt, I usually will just search up a video that revolves around the topic that I am “stuck” in. Videos explain clearly and so they help me the most. I think my biggest skill is optimism and confidence. However, I would want to improve my critical thinking and curiosity. As these two factors are something that can bring you forward in maths. That’s all for now.

Thank you,

Mathew

Thank you for sharing this Matthew. Good to read that you still enjoy solving maths problems and rising to a challenge. As you mention, perhaps consistency and your positive attitude will help you through the IB course. Have a great 2 years ahead.
