This year, I signed up for Amala again for the 3rd year now and I have some big goals in mind for the group this year. Because I have been a part of Amala for 2 years now, it was interesting to see how the group is continuing to change and adapt every year. This year, there were 4 new students in our small group and by getting to know them and interacting with them, I hope to create a group that is very collaborative and hardworking in achieving our goals. This year, I really wish to continue all of the amazing work we started last year in Amala and increase awareness about the initiatives and projects the group supports.
This year, we are set to make some big changes in our group and the ways in which we are able to raise awareness. There has been discussion about changing our focus group into a global concern to better advocate for the service we support and to be able to fundraise in our school, as the global school, Amala develops. We hope to match their progress this year and I hope to work with the people in my group to achieve this goal and embrace this new challenge. We started our investigation process by learning more about these issues and also learning more about how we can best support and match Amala’s progress. On the left is our meeting agenda where we started our investigation through a refugee research task.
I also would really like to learn more about refugees and current issues with the refugee crisis all over the world. I’ve recently educated myself further about the Rohingyan refugee crisis and I hope to do the same for many other issues related to refugees here and reflect this back on the main mission of Amala to provide education to these underprivileged youth. I think this is a very significant issue because everyone has the right to quality education and I really want to emphasize this global importance when I advocate about the work Amala does in my school community.
