Service (28/2/19)

During the week of the 28th of February I had presented again. My partner and I had made a presentation on Kahoots and how to create and play them. From my new goal that I set last time I had presented, I think I met my goal better as I skewed away from presenting up front, which my partner did instead, and I would individually help groups that were slower or didn’t quite understand. It allowed us to very efficiently account for all groups and is something I would like to continue to do.

Because I considered my past goals as well as how I worked towards them currently and previously, I achieved LO 1 and LO 2 and by considering how efficiently a group with different roles could operate in this environment; LO 6

Service (21/2/19)

during the week of the 21st of February I had presented, focusing on a quick recap of all previous presentations mixed in with special challenges that expanded rather than reiterated. As my partner was not present for a portion of the session I had to present alone. While I did spend time presenting in front of the class, I also had emphasized personally helping pairs with tasks.

From my attempts during my partner’s absence to collectively guide the class, I feel as if presenting in front of the class is less productive for me as I don’t have a commanding voice and much rather prefer helping pairs individually. It would be advantageous for me to shift my goal from speaking in front of the class to a general goal of improving my ability to teach and guide people which better fit this service.

As I considered my goals alongside how I may change them and how they relate to my strengths and weaknesses, I achieved LO 1 and 2

GC (21/1/19)

On the 21st of January, Tabitha sold homemade baked goods to raise funds for house-building. During the event we had assigned each other specific roles such as the one I was allocated (which was to wash the used cups and dishes) it allowed us to perform efficiently and achieve goals faster.

Alongside that, I had further developed my ability to perform under pressure and I would like to further develop my skills in that area

Yearbook (1/3/19)

The previous weeks had been rounds of feedback and peer assessment of our pages and I think I achieved my previous goal of handling criticism better as I had allowed myself to focus on the positives of my work rather than the negatives of my work which allowed me to develop a better mindset.

In this week we were assigned a handful of pages to complete. Allowing us to rapidly finish the design of the yearbook. Due to the tight deadline and impending tasks I had to carefully balance my yearbook responsibilities with academic ones which helped me develop my skills with balancing workloads. With my acknowledgement that i have skills and goals towards improving them, i met LO 1 and 2.

One issue I hasn’t considered is whether or not it is ethical to support this as it involves a large volume of paper. Given the current situation concerning deforestation, it is an increasingly relevant question to ask what does the school stand to gain from the resources consumed to produce these yearbooks. While it is likely that the team behind the sourcing of resources would source from a sustainable company, it is still likely that said sustainable practices involve a certain degree of pollution or unsustainable components. By assessing the potential ethical ramifications of supporting such an event, i achieved LO 7

My next goal would be to continue to develop my skills with balancing workloads and helping other members in my group to finish their pages due to larger commitments.
