Final Reflection

Posted on

Throughout the season we played, I was able to improve as well as learn new skills. The goals that I set for my self at the start of the year were almost achieved by practising different skills during practice sessions as well as playing against a different team. This football season helped me improve as a player.

Talking about the team this year, my teammates had been quite encouraging and supporting. The constant help and advice during the game or after the game made me realise my areas of improvement, During the games, I use to keep those feedbacks in my mind and try not to repeat my mistake. Our game got constantly better because of better communication and understanding between each other. This year was my last football season but it was effective and I learnt a lot of new skills.

Football Reflection- 2

Football season this year has been quite challenging this year. Balancing between schoolwork and the training session or the football games have been tough. This season is in grade 12 was quite demanding and being there for every team practice session was important too. So I needed to manage my time properly and make sure that I was able to finish my school work and give my best during the practice session.

This season I am more focusing on longer kicks and quick movement into space in the game. I have been focusing on this during each session. Working in a team has helped learned different skills from my teammates.

Culturama Final Reflection

Culturama this year has been all about personal challenges and learning a different culturama. I feel this culturama dance is very close to my heart and it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. I had a wonderful opportunity to learn about Kiwi culture and get exposed to different ideas. There were challenges while performing as I was feeling conscious of myself while doing Hakka which sometimes affected in my performances but it also made me think about the choices I made, the way I want my last culturama to be remembered. This experience was challenging yet fun. I had a good time being part of something and unexplored.

Dance Form for NewZealan this year and learning about the kiwi culture :

For the first time since Culturama started in 2013, girls are invited to participate in the New Zealand dance with along with boys. Instead of the All Blacks Haka, this year we have chosen to perform the Utaina Mai Haka,l is a representation of Maori and Kiwi culture. The haka is about welcoming people from different tribes across the land. The song (called a waita) talks about travelling on a canoe (called a waka), which is reflected in the movements of the dance. Both male and female dancers perform this dance and through the song in two lines, the front line will perform a different set of moves (shown in the audition video) while the backline continues to sing and dance to the chorus of the Utaina Mai Haka. There will be dancing and singing involved along with the chanting and movements normally associated with the haka.

This year this form of Hakka is a representation of how the culture of the traditional tribe and removing the stereotypes that girls cannot do Hakka.

Culturama – Reflection 2

After several rounds of audition for culturama , I got placed into New Zealand and represent the Hakka dance performance in Cultrama 2020. This year it was the first time when girls were performing  Hakka in the past 10 years. Being part of something that was going to be new this year was exciting. Initially, I was really nervous about joining the dance as it was pushing me out of my comfort zone as this was the first time girls were going to do it. I was really scared of being criticised for not doing the Hakka properly. Taking this as a personal challenge I decided to be a part of it. The journey would be fun and exciting.

HS Football 2019

This academic year, I have again decided to do HS football. This time playing year as a grade 12 added more responsibility. The expectation of being more responsible and supporting the new players have been there. For me, the main goal would be to focus on my skills and improving them. Last year what I struggled was with controlling the ball and shooting on the ball. This year this would be my main focus. I am looking forward to the year as it would be difficult handling my school work as well as football.

Reflection before Easter break- IFP Singapore

Challenges and what we are currently doing:

IFP Singapore is in its very important stage as we are planning our activities that we are going to do in our conference. We are palnning about how our day should look like, logistics, media etc. Though we are on a very important stage of planning our conference we have been having conflicts about who will do what, especially about what our activity should be. It’s very difficult to come to a consensus when there are so many people with different ideas. Hence we end up spending a lot of time in discussing what we should do in a group. Therefore we need to start giving priority and divide our work as we have less time and we need to so more. I think overall with logistics and media we are doing fine. It’s just that we need to put all our ideas together and plan our day according to given the time of activities.

IFP Singapore – 1 st reflection

IFP Singapore is conferences that happen in the start fo the academic year in high school. It involves both telling the high school student especially the students in grade11 about IFP and why it is worth joining. It helps in choosing IFP student in the upcoming year. I think the challenge of joining IFP Singapore is that the conference is the next academic year and for me, as I would be in grade 12 the start of the year could be difficult. So it might be difficult to attend IFP session and then do the conference. It would also include promoting IFP in school which would take a lot of time in the school. Hence, I need to be super organised and plan whatever I am going to do. I feel IFP Singapore comes with a lot of responsibility as we help in making student decisions about whether they want to join IFP or not. Therefore we need to give our best and make sure we are best in proving our mission.

Special Olympic- reflection before easter break

Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively:

Special Olympics with us to help and play badminton with the athletes with a special need. Hence, it is very important for us to plan our day to avoid any confusion. Working together also helps is reducing the burden on one person. It also makes us more focused and we avoid one person to do one everything. To do that we have created a spreadsheet where we wrote which person is going to do what in each session. One person has to conduct a badminton activity whereas the other a fun activity. This helps us to divide our work and work efficiently in a group. Working in a team is always fun as you share responsibilities as the more the better. I think the best think about my service is people are very organised and wrote down what the have done while conducting a session so if anyone of us forgets anything or our confused what we have to do for a fun session we can just have a look and conduct the. This helps everyone and this is how everyone knows what we are doing. This record of what we are going to do is also useful to people who will be doing the service next year. I think being super organized in a group is very beneficial.
