CAS Project- SUNDAC – Stages 1 and 2

Investigation

Initially, I was involved with another service as the leader/chair and I was responsible for organizing teams of students who would create educational, follow along videos for people with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs). However, due to COVID-19 rule complications, I decided to change services and I joined SUNDAC. In SUNDAC I was also responsible for leading a team of students aged 15-16 where we needed to plan live dance and fitness sessions for clients at the centre.

Preparation

The planning and preparation stage was always filled with challenges and difficulties, especially since I was working with students who were younger than me. My role was to instruct and support the younger students who were planning the live sessions with the clients (PWIDs) and I helped to liaison with the SUNDAC centre. During this time, I helped the students I worked with to find suitable and engaging music and dance videos that would help us to conduct a fun live Zoom session. In these Zoom sessions, which lasted approximately 30 minutes we would be in groups and engage with the clients at the centre. Overall a lot of preparation was necessary to make sure that the activities selected were of appropriate physical level for the clients as some of them were not as mobile as others.
