A leader’s take on PCF as an activity

PCF was my first choice when choosing a local service as it looked like an enriching yet fun service to be a part of. The whole idea of arts and crafts with little kids seemed appealing to me. The first few sessions were planning sessions we had to go through thereafter we finally got to go to the school. I volunteered to be the chair for this club when no one did as I wanted a challenge and because of my liking for the service when I first visited the school, I felt like I could take on the leadership role and the responsibilities that came with it. I’ve always been a bit distant with kids hence this was completely out of my comfort zone and i built a lot of patience and confidence in myself throughout this year of service. During the activities some of the kids were really shy but once they got used to our faces they felt more comfortable. I spoke to the teachers in the school we visit and took pictures of their topic sheet of what they teach the kids in school so we could base our activities on what they are learning to broaden their understanding on the area while doing something they enjoy. Each and everyone of the kids seem to really enjoy partaking in the activities we plan as a service every week and I would say our time management and preparation is very good. We planned all the activities beforehand so every week we wouldn’t be cramming something in.
