He said to his son” that this is your country, that this is your world, that this is your body, and you must find some way to live within all of it.” Despite all these social racism situations in America, he educates his son to be powerful and protect himself since the society is cold-blooded, it never cares about ” if the destruction is the result of an unfortunate overreaction. It does not matter if it originates in a misunderstanding.”

This is a strong piece of writing which really discusses important issues black people are facing in American society. The readers are placed in the son’s position, looking towards what the black people experienced and how the faith had to lead them to protect themselves. We can see a strong sense of affection between father and son, as well as his worries and uneasiness towards this “dangerous” society. Black people have to establish their own” survival rule” when they are misunderstood by white policemen and when they are forcing to receive the punishments they did not need.
