Overall Reflection Of My Badminton Training 2017

LO 2 NEW SKILLS (Developing new skills)

LO 4 COMMITMENT (Showing perseverance, resilience and commitment in activities)

RDA Friday-Term 3

For this term, I continued to work with Tobi. He is a very positive and out-going boy. He is mostly quite easy to communicate with which made my “job” much easier. He could reply to my questions as long as I gave him two options to choose from, for example, “do you like chicken rice or beef noddles?” I tried to make my questions simple and straightforward.

Since today is an introduction session, I led him do some streching at the start and brought him to meet his new horse. His new horse’s name is Jota but he kept calling her “Ishitria”, which is the name of his precious horse. I tried to correct him during the session and kept asking him “what is the name of your horse?” to enhance his memory. I think it is helpful because by calling the right name, he can work with his horse better and build a relationship with her in the further sessions. Tobi is actually a very smart kid but sometimes he just couldn’t remember it. The instructor also suggested me to talk to him in short sentences.

I held his hands and brought him walk around. He seemed very excited to see so many horses. But sometimes, I could notice that whenever he felt nervous, he would grab my hands very tightly.

For our next session, my goal is to communicate with him more and maybe teach him some new words. I also want to make sure that he can sit in the centre of the saddle in a straight posture.

Looking forward to see him next time!

LO 4 COMMITMENT (Showing perseverance, resilience and commitment in activities)

EE Initial Reflection-English B EE

I chose English B as my EE based on the topic regarding the influence of social media on the written English Language. This is related to our daily life as social media has become increasingly popular and ubiquitous. Written communication has taken new forms, structure and meanings. Therefore, I came up with my research question: How has Facebook, Twitter and Instagram influenced the evolution of written English Language in the 21st Century in the use of syntax punctuation, abbreviation and acronyms?

When I started preparing my outline, I found completing 4000 words to be an unachievable task. It was difficult to string my ideas into words. After my first discussion with my supervisor, my thoughts became clearer, for instance, adding in the origin of the hashtag and explaining how it has developed. Subsequently, I gained a better sense of direction to proceed with my research.

Word count: 145

RDA- Last session of term 2

This Friday was my last RDA session in term 2. I was allocated to a boy called Tobi along with the other side- walker, Tanya. I have seen him a few times but today was my first time to work with him. I introduced myself to him and I tried to built a trust relationship with him. He was quite outgoing but sometimes he seems to be lost in a world of his own.

We led him do some warm-up at the start to strech his arms and legs. He could do it quite well. After that, we went straight into the riding session. I held his ankle throughout the session to ensure he would not fall down from the horse when he got excited. He seemed very energetic and thrilled. The instructor asked me and Tanya to watch out his sitting position and keep reminding him to straighten his body. I remembered the most word I said to Tobi was “STRAIGHT”.

To conclude this term, I have improved my communication skills and leading skills a lot. I started to know how to approach different riders with different disabilities. I learnt to be patient when working with them. It was a meaningful term to me.

For next term, I am looking forward to meet new riders!
