What is the relationship between the author and the context?

The author’s personal context provides his writing with a bias, towards his own values and beliefs. As well as this, as they build the text they create the context within it. This is an important relationship as it can influence the message behind the text to fit the values of the author. This allows for the world of texts to have variation and diversity. As different texts will present different meanings. However, this does not only stop with the author’s personal context. As the personal context of the readers also impact the message of the text.

Are there limitations to this relationship?

Authors often write based on their experiences, beliefs, and values. If however, they wanted to explore different cultures or perspectives in their writing, the context may have limitations. Because they may not have first-hand true experience with those cultures they could potentially present it in an inaccurate way. This could be seen as offensive or wrong to those cultures. However, with effective research and deep understanding, I believe that authors can bypass these limitations and explore ideas and themes that are beyond their own personal context.
