Dance showcase ’20 #2

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively

Exactly 1 more month till the show date and I am starting to get everything together as a leader. The progress of the dance is great, all the choreography has been completed with formations. Although one of the thing that I find hard is teaching everyone in the limited time we see each other. When one person cannot make it, it makes the practice really hard for everyone since the formations are harder. I tried arranging time when we are all free after schools but it hasn’t been able to make it. Me and Ami has almost finished all the documents we have to write down so I think we have been able to distribute the workload. I learned how everyone collaborates and makes our practice go smoothly, we will be able to overcome this time management issue. A lot of the times, everyone in my group is very collaborative and make our practices go easier and it is very helpful as a leader.

Local Service #2

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in your CAS experiences

As season 2 is coming to an end, I have developed a few skills. One of the things I have learned it the importance of persistently developing on one skill. In the beginning of my journey in this local service, I was only able to ride a unicycle. Nowadays, due to continuous practice, i am able to ride a giraffe unicycle as well as a little bit of hopping on them. I am happy that my skills are developing through consistent practice. I hope that through this, one day i can perform it in one of the circus performances.

The interactions with our service partner will hopefully start in season 3, so I really look forward to interact with kids and teach them the circus skills I learned.

  1. Timing
  • I spent a lot more than a minute on introduction but I think it was necessary to give it a context
  • I wasn’t very sure of how to end the oral

2. Structure and progression (into; conclusion)

  • I think overall, i had a structure although i went off the path some of the times

3. Did you discuss context? Relation to the wider global issue or focus of your exploration?

  • I discussed a lot of context around why she might have wrote the poem. I think I was able to discuss the real life issue around the theme of identity

4. Ideas and technical aspects: did you get a balance between discussing the two?

  • I talked a lot about the use of symbolism within the poem and how it affects the reader’s understanding, conveying on what she wants to address

5. What will you ‘feedforward’ to your next practice?

  • I tend to repeat the same idea over and over again so make sure i clearly know what i want to talk about
  • Use more precise words to explain ideas
  • Talk slower and more precisely because I tend to hurry and speak faster which may be unclear some of the times
  • i was very nervous when before the oral so I think one of the things i need to work on is calming down which can be very important
