Our first performance was quite a nerve-wracking experience for me at first, this was at Family festival and it was the first time that we were going to be performing in front of people — the whole school and their parents really. I had grown quite comfortable with the Surdo and was able to play through a lot of practice now, but I had never performed in front of an audience (LO2). As we got onto the stage, I started to feel a bit better and as we started playing I definitely felt a lot more confident and was able to have a lot of fun. I liked watching the audience dance a bit at the energetic music of the Samba band and I realised that it was really all about enjoying ourselves together (LO5). The next time we performed was a more formal event but was just as enjoyable. I feel that playing in the outdoors does more justice to the upbeat Samba music.
