Pottery – Final Post #LO2 #LO5

During the final classes of pottery, I paired up with a classmate and we collaborated together on making the character Kirby

I learned that even in the arts, it is more enjoyable and also efficient to work in small groups as I learned a lot of techniques through the partner work and was also able to help make and join parts before the clay dried out. Even though we had to restart the project a few times as the large figure dried quickly, we were able to finally make one with all parts joined. After firing it in the kiln, some parts fell off and then had to be glued back on eventually. This activity has taught me to be creative and to think outside the box when certain unexpected circumstances arise, however these challenges make the experience more worthwhile in the long run.

The image at the top shows two of my favourite pottery pieces from this activity. I decorated them with some artificial flowers and keep them as a reminder of the Thursday afternoon classes.
